999 Emergency Services Day
By Claire Rawlinson | May 26, 2009
Burnham on Crouch Lifeboat Crew will be joining other emergency service personnel when they take part in the 999 Emergency Services Day on Sunday 7 June.
The day is one of the Maldon Districts most popular events and promises to be even bigger and better than before.
The event will be held at Millfields, Burnham on Crouch and is a fun day out for all the family.
Representatives from Essex Police, Essex Fire & Rescue Service, the East of England Ambulance Service, Coastguards and Cadets from the Fire, Air, Sea and Police services will all be on hand to give advice and chat about what they do.
Members from Essex Criminal Justice Board will also be on hand for the first time to demonstrate what happens in the courts and to explain the process of catching a criminal and sending them to prison.
It is hoped that the Essex Air Ambulance and Essex Police Helicopters will also be able to attend, depending on operational commitments and emergencies.
Burnham RNLI will be taking part in a ‘River Rescue’ organised and co-ordinated by the Coastguard and involving Essex Police, officers from Burnham’s Marine Unit, the Fire Service fire boat and Crouch Harbour Authority.
Colchester’s Army Combat Arts Team will be providing a display and there will be face painting, treasure hunts and bouncy castles for the children.
Entry is free and the fun begins at 12:30 until 4:30pm. For more information go to www.maldon.gov.uk
