img_2190-croppedBurnham on Crouch Lifeboat Station will officially launch its Boathouse Appeal on Thursday 25th June 2009, at the Queens Head Public House, Burnham on Crouch at 6.00pm.

Burnham Town Mayor, Mrs Carol Noble will receive a cheque for £5,000, on behalf of Burnham RNLI, from Fambridge Yacht Haven Director Mr Danyal Adams, who is also a crew member at the Burnham Station.

In 2011, Burnham RNLI will take delivery of a faster, more capable Atlantic 85 Lifeboat, which will replace the current 13 year old Atlantic 75. The new Lifeboat has already been paid for by an extremely generous donor, however as it is larger that the current one, it will require a new floating boathouse to accommodate it.

Walter Jenkins, Treasurer of Burnham RNLI said ‘The Lifeboat Station needs to raise £50,000 towards the cost by 2011 and we are asking the community of Burnham on Crouch if they can assist us in raising the additional money’.

‘We have already started fundraising. Four members of the crew have volunteered to take part in a tandem skydive with the world famous Red Devils on 3rd September in Nottingham and our Assistant Press Officer is taking part in a sponsored 13 mile walk in Southend on 4th July. Donations to the two events have already topped £1,250′.
