RNLI Blessing Service

GMS crew cropped & compressedThe annual blessing of the Lifeboats service took place on the Quay in Burnham on Crouch on Sunday 30th August at 5pm.

The service is held annually to give thanks and praise for all involved in the RNLI and specifically to Burnham.

Again, the service was extremely well attended, and parishoners from all denominations, were there to give thanks and praise to the Lifeboats and their crew. The collection on the quay totalled £291.18 for the Floating Boathouse Appeal and the crew at the station would like to express their thanks to Canon Lionel Webber and Burnham Churches Together for their help and support in organising the service.

In an ironic twist of fate, the Atlantic 75 Lifeboat was unable to attend the service as she has done in previous years, due to being called away on a shout as the service was about to begin!

The Lifeboat Station at Burnham is experiencing its busiest ever year in 2009, launching the lifeboats 60 times in response to 47 incidents so far.
