Launched 15:00, Rehoused 16:00
The Atlantic 75 lifeboat was launched this afternoon to a fire on board a motor cruiser in Essex Marina at Wallasea Island on the south shore of the river Crouch.
Three members of the lifeboat crew at Burnham attended the incident, one of whom is also a full-time Paramedic. The two people who were on board the motor cruiser suffered minor burns and initial first aid was given by the lifeboat crew. They were then brought ashore and taken by land ambulance to Southend General Hospital for further treatment.
Two fire engines also attended the scene and members of the fire service dealt with the incident which appeared to have been a flash fire which started just after the motor cruiser had finished refuelling. Burnham lifeboat crew then returned to station at around 4pm.
This has been a busy week so far for the volunteer crews at Burnham’s RNLI lifeboat station who have been called out on service 5 times over the last 3 days.
