Launched 23:15, Rehoused 01:30
The Burnham on Crouch Lifeboat was launched to assist a 20ft motor boat which had run aground. The vessel was thought to be near to the Buxey’s at the mouth of the river but was unsure of her exact position.
Four adults and a child were reported to be on board and suffering from the cold. The Atlantic 75 took warm clothing and the IB1 was also launched shortly afterwards to assist in the search and take hot tea to them.
The Lifeboat crews initially found it difficult to locate the vessel due to it being a particularly dark night and there not being regular radio contact, only a poor mobile phone connection.
When she was found, a crew member went on board to distribute the clothing and ensure everyone was well. She was then escorted back to Fambridge Yacht Haven and the Lifeboat returned to station.
