Yacht Havens Group appointed an RNLI Ambassador

By Claire Rawlinson | January 15, 2009

atlantic75In a proactive move Yacht Havens Group, based in Lymington in Hampshire, is introducing their berth holders to membership of RNLI.  For those boat owners who take out an annual berth for 2009 at any one of the Group’s eight marinas around the UK, including Fambridge Yacht Haven, they will receive complimentary membership of RNLI for their first year.  Berth holders are then encouraged to continue with this membership and offer financial support for many years to come.  The RNLI is a life-saving charity that relies on voluntary donations.

“Offering membership of the RNLI in this way will, we hope, save the charity the costs normally associated with finding new members,” explained Yacht Havens Group Managing Director, Dylan Kalis.  “In 2007 our company raised over £20,000 for the RNLI and has pledged to continue making donations in the years to come.  We are proud to become an RNLI Ambassador.”

Yacht Havens Group own and operate 2600 marina berths and two dry berthing sites in Scotland, England and Wales.

Sir Richard Rycroft, Operations Manager at Burnham-on-Crouch lifeboat station has welcomed the move saying; “This is a great initiative by the Yacht Havens Group and we are very grateful to them.  We hope that many of the berth holders will choose to continue to support the RNLI after the first year”.

The RNLI requires to raise approximately £130 million a year to operate the service of helping to save lives at sea.  RNLI memberships form an important part of the charity’s core annual income.
