Shout: Anchor Fast On Obstruction
By Claire Rawlinson | November 29, 2003
Launched 13:05, Rehoused 13:52
Launched to assist a 24′ sea angling boat anchored in Burnham Fairway with a reported machinery failure, on arrival the LB crew found the vessel with her engine running and no indication of any mechanical problem.
However her anchor was fast on the ground tackle of a trot of morings and had resisted all attempts to free it. With the owner’s consent to cut the anchor chain, the Lifeboat returned to the station for a pair of bolt croppers and then returned to free the casualty. The crew then escorted the casualty back to Burnham Yacht Harbour.
