Shout: Capsized Dinghy

By Claire Rawlinson | July 24, 2003

Launched 00:39, Rehoused 01:00

Both boats were launched after a resident in a house boat had reported hearing children’s voices on the river just after midnight.

The A 75 found a swamped 8′ dinghy tied to a buoy close to Wallasea Marina and then started to search for the youngsters.

On putting a crew member ashore they discovered that the youngsters had been recovered from the water by the marina security guard and police, and were about to be sent to Southend General Hospital by ambulance.  The D class towed the dinghy to the marina and beached it on the slipway.
