Shout: Fouled Propellor

By James Dorey | June 13, 2000

Launched 13:35,  Rehoused 15:13

The Lifeboat was launched to assist a yacht at Fambridge which had caught a rope trailing from a mooring buoy around her propellor.  The yacht was firmly attached to the buoy, so one of the lifeboat crew entered the water to try and untangle the rope without cutting it.

After this had proved impossible, he cut the rope and freed the yacht.  While the Lifeboat towed the yacht to Essex Marina at Wallasea, another member of the Lifeboat crew checked for any ingress of water in case her stern gear had been damaged while the weight of the yacht was hanging off it.
