Shout: Machinery Failure And Unsure Of Position
By James Dorey | August 20, 2002
Launched 21:10, Rehoused 23:50
A 75 launched to assist a RIB with steering problems with 2 POB. They had reported by mobile phone that they were unsure of their position but thought they were in the region of the NE Maplin Buoy. They later said that they thought they might be within a mile of Foulness Point.
They had no radio or other safety kit on board. The LB put up two white para flares while searching, the second of which was answered by a flashing torch from the casualty, who was between the Outer Crouch and the Buxey No 2 Buoys. The LB took the two men on board and towed the RIB to her mooring in Althorne Creek.
