D Class launched in response to a report that a man had been seen on Bridgemarsh Island waving for assistance.  He had walked ashore after making frequent attempts to kedge a 17ft bilge keel yacht off the mud and had given up as the boat became increasingly fast and eventually then dried out.

A member of the LB crew ran out his anchor for him and the LB then took him back to Burnham Yacht Harbour.
