Both the Atlantic 75 and IB1 Lifeboats were launched to reports of a vehicle entering the water at Hullbridge, opposite South Woodham Ferrers.

Volunteer Lifeboat Crews carried out an extensive search of the area, together with the Police, Fire Service, Coastguard and RAF Helicopter from Wattisham.

The vehicle was located with a person still inside submerged in the water at 18:30.

The occupant was later recovered by the Police and other Emergency Services.
