The Atlantic 75 Lifeboat was launched to reports of a vessel aground on Lee Shore, near to Fambridge.

When the Lifeboat reached the 25ft yacht, a crewman was put on board and made sure that casualty vessels crew were safe and well.

In the meantime, an immediate request for attendance was made by Thames Coastguard to proceed to the Crouch Yacht Club where two people were reported to be in the water and in difficulty. The Lifeboat and her remaining crew members immediately made for the Yacht Club.

Fortunately two crew members were still at the Lifeboat Station when they heard the distress call from the Coastguard and were immediately kitted up and launched the IB1 Lifeboat. As they reached the Crouch Yacht Club the Coastguard relayed a message that the persons had all managed to get ashore and were safe and well.

The Atlantic and IB1 Lifeboats returned to the casualty vessel where an anchor was laid out and the boat made secure. The Lifeboat crew member and the yachts crew were then taken on board the Atlantic 75. They were then taken to Essex Marina and the Lifeboats and their full complement of crew returned to station.
