Boating On A Budget Competition for the ‘Cute Dinghy’
Terms and Conditions
- The prize is a Dinghy as described on www.burnham-rnli.org.uk and displayed at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show in March 2011 and is non transferable.
- Entrance is by the purchase of a Raffle ticket at a cost of £1 per ticket, which may be obtained from the Boating on a Budget feature on the Yachts and Yachting stand at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011, where the dinghy is to be exhibited or from the Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI, clubs or associations where the feature is promoted prior to the Show.
- Entry will open as of the 28th January 2011 for the purchase of tickets from the Burnham RNLI, clubs or associations where the feature is promoted prior to the Show, being the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011 where the dinghy is to be exhibited and will continue for the duration of the Show, closing at 3pm on Sunday 6th March 2011.
- Entry is open to all eligible attendees (being persons aged 18 or over).
- No entrant can select an alternative prize however British Marine Federation (the Organiser) reserves the right to substitute any prize with an alternative prize of equal or greater value of to offer a cash alternative.
- There is no limit to the number of raffle tickets that may be purchased by any one individual.
- All entrants are solely responsible for providing the Organiser with accurate and up-to-date contact details and the Organiser will be in no way liable for any failure or inability to contact any entrant due to any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the contact details and/or email address that he/she has provided, any other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser or otherwise.
- The draw to determine the winner of the competition will take place on or after 3pm on 6th March 2011 on the Boating on a Budget feature at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show. The draw will be made by a designated drawer, whose decision will be final, with no correspondence being entered into by the Organiser in respect of any decision made by the drawer. The drawer shall draw three tickets one after the other. The first drawn winner will be the first person entitled to the prize. If this person does not confirm acceptance within 28 days, or cannot be contacted, the prize will revert to the next drawn ticket and so on. If the first winner wishes to reject the prize in favour of giving it back to the Organiser to re-raffle or auction in order to generate further charitable income for the charity, he/she may do so and the owners of the second and third drawn tickets will not be entitled to the prize.
- Regardless of whether the Organiser has been successfully able to contact the winner, the winner must communicate to the Organiser his/her acceptance of the prize within 28 days of announcement of the winner on the Website. If the winner fails to do so, the prize will be forfeited and the prize will revert to the next drawn ticket under clause 8.
10. The Organiser shall be entitled to delay the draw at any time.
11. The name of the winner will be will be published on the Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI website, hosted at www.burnham-rnli.org.uk and available on request to the Marine Trade Association, enclosing a stamped self addressed envelope, directed to: British Marine Federation, Boating on a Budget, Marine House, Thorpe Lea Road , Egham, Surrey, TW20 8BF.
12. The Organiser accepts no liability for errors or omissions contained within the prize details or any other part of the Website. It is the responsibility of the winner to satisfy him/herself as to the accuracy of any such details and/or any content of the Website.
13. The Organiser reserves the right in its reasonable opinion to disqualify any claimant, competitor or nominee whose conduct is contrary to the spirit of the rules or the intention of the promotion and to declare as void any or all claims or entries resulting from any printing or production errors; to add or to waive any rules on reasonable notice and to cancel the promotion at any stage in the event of circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
14. Once the winner has accepted the prize they will be invited to pick up the prize from a mutually agreed location within 100miles of Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, UK. Any further transportation must be arranged at the winners cost. The location must be on the mainland UK. Once the time and location are mutually agreed between the parties the paperwork to transfer the legal title of the prize to the winner will be executed. After which ownership of the prize will be transferred to the winner without further cost to the winner. The winner will need to arrange and pay for his/her trip to the mutually agreed place of delivery.
15. The Organisers shall use reasonable endeavours to transfer the prize to the winner free from any mortgage or financial charges. The winner will receive the prize in the condition in which it exists at the date of such transfer and the Organiser gives no warranties as to the physical condition of the prize.
16. All risk and title will pass once acceptance has been communicated and the winner is responsible for ensuring they hold valid insurance from the point that the prize is transferred to them if they wish the prize to be insured. The Organiser will have no responsibility for insuring the prize after the prize has been transferred to the winner. The winner will also be responsible for all future costs of keeping and maintaining the prize including but not limited to storage fees, insurance and maintenance.
17. The Organiser shall not be liable for any costs incurred by an entrant in connection with the Competition. In the interests of certainty the Organiser shall not be liable for any solicitors’ fees if applicable or other fees or taxes incurred by an Entrant.
18. Save for death or personal injury arising from the negligence of the Organiser, the Organiser will not be liable for any loss (including economic loss) suffered to or sustained by any person or property as a result of any act or omission of the Organiser, nor will their servants or their agents in developing, planning and administrating the Competition, distributing the prize to the winner or following the distribution of the prize.
19. There is no limit to the number of entry forms that may be submitted by any one individual.
20. These Terms & Conditions shall be construed in accordance with English law and the parties hereby submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
21. Each entrant should download or retain a copy of these terms and conditions for his/her reference.
Boating On A Budget Sealed Bid Auction of the ‘Black Cadet Dinghy’
Terms and Conditions
- The prize being bidded for is a ‘wreck’ Black Cadet Dinghy as described on www.burnham-rnli.org.uk and displayed at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show in March 2011 and is non transferable.
- Entrance is by sealed bids on submission of the entry form, on which a bid is to be made, with the highest sealed bid winning the dinghy. The entry form may be obtained from the Boating on a Budget feature on the Yachts and Yachting stand at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011, where the dinghy is to be exhibited.
- Entry will open at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011 and will continue for the duration of the Show, closing at 3pm on Sunday 6th March 2011.

- The winning bidder, being the entrant who makes the highest sealed bid in pounds sterling will be notified by email within 28 days of the close of the Show.
- In the event of two or more bidders making identical bids resulting in a tie, the prospective winners will be asked to further bid, of which the winning bid will be chosen or given the option to withdraw from the bid.
10. In the case of the original bidder does not communicate acceptance of the prize, wishes to withdraw or fails to transfer funds within 28 days of being notified, the dinghy shall be offered to the next highest bidder and so on.
11. The winner will be asked to make payment by cash transfer to the Organisers, being the Marine Trade Association (“MTA”), a group association of the British Marine Federation the trade association for the marine industry, company number 02592536 whose registered office is at Marine House, Thorpe Lea Road, Egham, Surrey, TW20 8BF, England.
