ESA contact number – 0843 816 6405

The ESA or the Employment and Support Allowance is a benefited that is provided from the government to support those people who are not able to work and support those people who are trying to return to work after an illness or injury. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the government department that is responsible for administering the Employment and Support Allowance. There is a DWP ESA helpline telephone number should you need to contact the ESA team. The telephone number is 0800 055 6688. Lines are open between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. The ESA helpline is closed on the weekend. For customers that are hearing impaired a textphone service is available. The number for this service is 0800 023 4888. For customers in Wales that speak welsh you can call ESA on 0800 012 1888. Both these other services are open at the same time as the main contact centre. The ESA contact number is a freephone number. This means that it is a number that is completely free to call from any landline or mobile telephone. The DWP ESA contact team are ready to take your call. However, the ESA phone number does get busy. Therefore, it may be worthwhile trying to call the DWP ESA team early in the morning or just before the helpline closes. This will help to maximise your chances of getting through to the ESA helpline quickly and not wait in a queue to speak to someone. The ESA support line is usually least busy just after opening at 8am, Monday to Friday.

Phone our ESA contact number now.

Calls cost £0.07 per minute, plus your phone company’s access charge. Check with your provider because access charges vary from company to company, and calls from mobiles may cost considerably more. We provide a call connection service, more details available on Ofcom's website.

If you would prefer to call DWP about ESA directly, here are some of the departments you may wish to contact.

Why you may need to use the ESA phone number

There are many reasons why you may need to use the ESA phone number. Perhaps you have a general query about the benefit and who is eligible to apply. Perhaps you are already receiving the benefit and want to query a payment or an aspect of the service. The ESA telephone number is definitely the right thing to use to find an answer to these queries. The Department for Work and Pensions recommend using the ESA telephone number to also apply for the benefit in the first instance. They say that the quickest and easiest way to apply for the benefit are through the trained expert advisors that staff the ESA support line. The advisors will be able to then guide you through the application process for the benefit and explain clearly what this will involve.

The other reason why you may need the ESA number is to make a complaint about an aspect of the service or benefit that you are receiving. Perhaps you feel that you are not getting the correct monthly payment or have not received a payment at all. In these cases, the ESA number is definitely what you need to call. Just remember that when you do call ESA you will have to wait in a queue for your call to be answered, but then when it is, expert help will be available to help advise you on your problem and find an acceptable solution. If you have been turned down for the benefit, then it may be worth calling the ESA contact phone number to find out more detailed information about why your application was not accepted. If you do not agree with the decision made by the Department for Work and Pensions then you do have the right to appeal. However, this appeal would not be via the ESA contact phone number. Instead you would need to apply to the Social Security and Child Support Tribunal. You can perform a quick internet search to find further information about this. It may also be worth contacting your local Citizens Advice Bureau for further help.

Other Ways to Contact ESA

The main way to contact ESA is via the telephone number that has been discussed earlier in the article. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to contact the team through using social media or email about specific details regarding your case. However, there is a lot of information about the benefit on the governments website including a useful guide to the ESA. To find this, visit the website www.gov.uk/employment to find it. If you do have any questions you can then give the contact number a call. However, there is another way to apply for the benefit if you are not able or do not wish to use the contact centre to apply. In this instance, you can download the form ESA1 and take it to your JobCentre Plus office. There an advisor will help you to finish completing the form and submit it for you. The advisor will also be able to supply you with their contact details. This will mean that you will be able to contact them for them to chase the progress of your application.

There is a different way that you will need to apply for the benefit in Northern Ireland. If this applies to you then you will need to visit the www.gov.uk/employment website to find further further information on how to apply.
